Early on the morning of December 6, a truly special husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbour passed away. Carl parted
this life peacefully in the home where he was born and raised in Shigawake Quebec with his family close by.
Carl was a dedicated farmer who believed in working hard and enjoyed caring for the land and his animals, which included the
birds he invited to the veranda each morning. His interests included playing hockey and ancestry, and he thoroughly enjoyed
visits from friends and family.
Generous beyond measure with words and deeds, Carl never missed an opportunity to offer praise, thanks, or
compliments to everyone in his life. This among many values endeared him to so many throughout his life.
Carl is predeceased by his parents, Edward Hayes and Ella (Lawrence), his brother Dr. Herbert Hayes and wife Gail (Smith),
and his beloved grandson Ryan Sullivan.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years Lois (Byers), his children Mona (Bill), Bert (Alison), Lorraine, George (Nikki),
and Bonnie(Dean).
The adoring grandchildren who knew him as Grandpa include Boyd, Carla, and Melissa Sullivan, Jackie Hayes, Natalie Hayes,
Tyson Clinton, Meghan Hayes Clinton, Nathan and Shaina Hayes, Maybe and Taylor McInnis.
The youngest loves in Carl's life were his great-grandchildren Kenny and Chloe, Lauren, Anna and Ezra, Ottis, Max and Ratchet.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all who were involved with his care during his final days.
Carl's stellar faith sustained him always and set a guiding example for his family and all those whose lives he touched.
Visitations will take place at the Réjean Bélanger Funeral Home in St. Godefroi on Monday December 11, 2023.
Visiting hours will be from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Tuesday, December 12, there will be a visitation at the St. Paul's Anglican
Church from 12 to 1 pm with the Funeral service starting at 1 pm.
Burial will take place at the St. Andrew's Cemetery in Port Daniel following the funeral.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Carl L. Hayes can do so to a Charity of their choice.
Professional services have been entrusted to the Salon Funéraire Rejéan Bélanger, a subsidiary of the HG Division network certified Distinction by the Corporation des thanatologues du Quebec and by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec.
The management and staff of HG Division offer their deepest condolences to the family and thank them for their trust.
